Easy Summer Decorating

June 18, 2012 By Mary

I’m not big on seasonal decorating.  It’s not because I don’t like it.  In fact I love to look at others seasonal decorating.  It’s inspiring.  It is just a time issue for me and a where did I put that vase that used to be on the mantel issue.    If you know what I mean?
I’ve seen so many beautiful seasonal decorating updates that I was inspired to give it a try. Mantels are the perfect place to change out decorations for each season, but we don’t have a mantel, so I’ve decided to decorate a side table instead.
This was quick and easy – my kind of project.  The background picture is a linen towel with flowers on it that is framed.  I added vases with wild flowers for a summery feel.
Next the chippy green frame was layered over the linen towel frame.  I made a word document using a font that looked hand written to explain where you could find me.
The owl is just for whimsy.
Happy Summer!

I know exactly what you mean! I love to look at seasonal decorating, but just never seem to get to it. With the exception of Christmas, I haven’t changed my mantel in years and believe me it’s in serious need of an update! I love what you did here, it’s so pretty without looking overdone or unnaturally staged. I think you’ve inspired me to do something about that long overdue mantel update!

I keep clicking your links! You’ve just got it going on. This is super cute and I’m all about the green colors you have here, esp. that frame. Perfect.

This looks so good and unstructured, if that makes sense. Funny note – I used to have that owl years ago. I think it held Avon cologne. I collected owls when I was in college back in the 70’s.

I know just what you mean. Nothing in our dining room has really changed since Easter! I got so tired of looking at the same thing day after day, that I finally dug around in our basement for more summery items. Your tabletop vignette is perfect for summer.

Oh, I love all the pretty shades of blue and green on your mantel. And the chippy frame is the perfect color of green! I love that.

I don’t have a mantel either, but I finally got the clue from all you other smart bloggers that I could decorate something else, so I decorated the top of my piano. Fun!
