Maple Glazed Apple Tarts

September 19, 2013 By Mary

easy maple-glazed apple tarts

This is one of those recipes that is super easy, but your guests will think you have mad culinary skills. The secret is using prepared puff pastry dough. You can find it in the freezer section of your grocery store. Of course, you could make your own puff pastry, but then you really would have mad culinary skills.

This recipe uses 1/2 of a package (1 sheet) and make 4 tarts. After you roll out your dough into a 12″ square, cut it into four 6″ squares. Arrange  1/2 of a thinly sliced apple into the center of each square. Roll edges towards center. Brush pastry with egg wash, and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake in a 375*F. oven for 25 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Set aside. Make the maple icing by mixing 1/2 cup of confectioner’s sugar with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup. Drizzle a tablespoon of icing onto each tart. Serve. They are delicious warm and will last for several days in an air tight container.
